Maths

This week we are going to continue with the Oak Academy unit on coordinates and shape, this is what we would have been covering if we had been in school. This unit will last for the rest of this week: https://classroom.thenational.academy/units/coordinates-and-shape-4f3d  Click on the link and begin at lesson 5: Solving Practical Coordinate Problems Part 2.

English

Theme: Robots (Part 2)

This week we are continuing with our theme of robots. You will have the opportunity to explore, design and create your own robot! When following links online, parents should monitor that children are remaining on that page only and are keeping safe online. You will also make links with the stories referenced last week and begin writing a story featuring your own robot creation.

Monday

Today you are going to explore robots! Watch, enjoy and find out how robots can be used in these clips and articles.  As you watch and read, collect and discuss some of the technical vocabulary.

After watching the film clips and reading the material, discuss with a family member the many ways in which robots can help/are used. Write these uses in a chart or list like this, you should find at least five:

You will need this information for tomorrow’s live lesson.

Science

I would like to do a live lesson for today’s science. I would like to meet at 1:00pm.

First we will look at the following PowerPoint however this does not always work so well when on the blog: Lesson Circulatory System – Home learning 11th Jan

Then we will look at how the heart and lungs work together to get oxygen around the body. This will be either a video I have made on YouTube or a live demonstration. https://youtu.be/M1pz3kdc9sA

Finally we will look at diagrams of the heart and cross section of the upper body and these can be printed out and labelled. If you cannot print out the work then draw a diagram of the heart in your book and label it and draw a cross section of the upper body and label it. You can copy the diagrams from the links to help you. Activity Sheet Parts of the Circulatory System – Black and White

Stilling time

Positivity Jar: This is a great exercise to do and one that you can keep returning to time and time again. A positivity jar is really useful for keeping your mental health in good shape. You can print out the card suggestions or you can just write your own. Any jar or container will do. My-positivity-jar

If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to email me either on r.poole@ellel-st-johns.lancs.sch.uk or rpoole@ellelstjohns.school as I will be checking both accounts.

Enjoy your learning!

Love

Mrs Poole
