It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Ellel St. John’s Church of England Primary School’s website. We hope that we are able to give you an indication of our school’s organisation, aims and ethos and help you to know what life is like at Ellel whether you are a current parent / child or a prospective parent looking for the right school for your child.
Please also watch our virtual open day video which can be found on our Home Page. While this was filmed during COVID, when visits to school weren’t possible, it still gives a flavour of life here at Ellel St. John’s.
At Ellel St. John’s, we believe that God is at the centre of all we aim to achieve in school and our Mission Statement reflects this:

We believe each child is known, unique, special and made in the image of God. Our school family is a welcoming, friendly community and all members of the village community are made very welcome in our school. Through our strong Christian ethos and pastoral care, we help our children to develop into compassionate, confident, responsible and resilient individuals ready to take their place in the world.
Saint Matthew tells us to, Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven. At Ellel St. John’s, children thrive socially and emotionally in a stimulating environment that nurtures every child, with learning at the heart of all we do. We are committed to providing an excellent education where children achieve their full potential and our academic standards are consistently very high. Through our strong Christian ethos and pastoral care, we help our children develop into caring, confident, responsible and reliable young people. Each child is valued and given opportunities to realise their potential. We aim to develop the whole child and have high academic, sporting, cultural, social and behavioural standards. Our children make us proud every day!
A strong home-school partnership is so important and we want you to take an active role in the education of your children.
