Hello from Mrs Quinn
English
The Traditional Tale that you voted for is …
THE GINGERBREAD MAN
A good choice Beech Class, this is one of my favourites!
So, let’s read the Gingerbread Man.
Listen out for the fairy tale language and can you join in with the repeated lines?

Can you create a story map to show the order of events in the story? Use pictures and add words e.g. cat, dog, fox, boy, girl etc.
Here is an example to show what I mean …
These are different animals to our story so complete the map using the events in our story but it helps to see what I mean.
Maths – Place Value.
This week we will be looking at place value.
In maths, every digit in a number has a place value. Place value can be defined as the value represented by a digit in a number.
For the children, how many tens and ones are in a number. e.g. 63 has 6 tens and 3 ones.
Go through this pdf with your children. Remember to count the tens first then the ones.
Then complete this game which we have done before in class.

Set the numbers your child can do up to 99 but not beyond.
CHALLENGE – extra ideas to do if you like
Here is some more place value ideas to have a go at. Tell your adult the answer or write them in your book if you like.
Maths problem of the day
Have a go at this problem if you would like. Ask the children how do you know that? How did you work out that answer?
Phonics
Please look at this pdf for today’s phonics revision.
For the splat game you could use some kitchen utensils.
Well-being activity for the day
A cat peace out (as well all know Mrs Quinn loves cats).

Here is a recipe to make your own gingerbread people. I know this may be tricky to do as shops are low stocked and we should be staying at home but it’s there if you want to do it …

I have found lot’s of other nice activities for you that I will upload later in the week.
Good morning Beech Class – isn’t it lovely to see Mrs Quinn and her cat saying hello!. I hope some of you get to bake a gingerbread man -oops person – and enjoy eating them. I love the gingerbread man in one of my all time favourite films – Shrek ‘Be gooood’.
Take care
Mrs Thomas
Good morning Mrs Thomas! Yes the Gingerbread Man is a good story and what the class voted for to learn about this week. We often speak about Tilly Cat in class so I thought the class would like to see her. It’s nice to be able to say hi to the class!
What a great way to start the week! It was great to see you, Mrs. Quinn. Ailsa says: “I liked seeing you it reminded me of being at school.” She is also pleased that the story she voted was the most popular.
That’s good. I wanted to say hi to the class and let them see Tilly cat! I was glad the Gingerbread man won, it’s a good choice so well done beech Class!
Obi has really enjoyed the story this morning- and also writing the recipe out……going to buy some ginger to make them…..watch this space
That’s great! I’m glad he liked the story! Ooo can’t wait to see them!?
