Good morning Oak Class! I hope you’ve had a lovely couple of days working with Mrs Poole. I’ve not posted a ‘hello’ video today as my RE task (below) has a video with it. Here’s today’s work…

English

LI – To compose poetry using figurative language and personification.(Task 1)

or

LI – to create a Shakespearean style sonnet. (Task 2)

There are two tasks to choose from for your English work for the rest of this week. The first of the LIs is the slightly easier task the second is more of a challenge. If you’re wanting extra work you could do both!

Task 1 – Click on the first of the links below to see the task and then on the second link to access your planning sheet (print this if you want/can or write in your work book). Your task today is to plan your Tempest Spell Poem.

Maths

LI – to multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1000 & to apply times tables knowledge to mental maths work

For your maths today I want you to aim to work quickly and efficiently focusing on the speed of your mental calculations. Please do the Mental Maths Warm Up at the top of each page. I would like all of you to do the first two pages: Multiplying and Dividing by 10, 100 and 1000. Page 3, which requires you to apply your times tables knowledge to work quickly and efficiently in your mental maths, is an extension. Please click on the links below and either print the pages out or write your answers in your book:

RE – LI – To use Easter Symbols to create an Easter Garden

I made the following video when the sun was shining. Don’t worry if the weather has turned. Just wait until it gets better or do this activity indoors. Watch the clip to see what you have to do…

Stilling Time – Headspace – Underlying Calm

Watch the following Headspace animation and listen carefully to the message about clear skies and calm minds:

Once you’ve watched the animation, do a lying down meditation (you choose whether to do it indoors or outdoors). Focusing on your breathing. Counting your breaths – 1 on the in breath, 2 on the out breath up to 10 and then starting again. Trying to keep your focus on the breath. If your mind gets distracted, noticing the distraction and then letting it go, bringing the attention back to the breath. Do the meditation for as long as is comfortable for you: 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes. It’s up to you.
