In Science this half term we will be looking at plants and trees. We started our topic last week by labelling parts of a plant and parts of tree. Today, we went into the school garden area to observe trees, we recorded by sketching the trees and labelling them. We also measured leaves and tree trunks using rulers and measuring tapes. We used magnifying glasses to help us take a closer look at leaves and some of us use bark rubbings of the tree as a method of recording what we could see. Great work Holly Class!
Jonathan really enjoyed looking at trees today. Last week he did a tree survey of all the new trees they have planted on our estate – we counted 65!
He showed some great observational skills.
What a great topic. George was naming the trees on his way down the school drive.
I was so impressed with the children’s existing knowledge about plants and trees.
