Yesterday, we found out about our new topic. Mrs FitzGerald started the topic by doing a Mystery Tasting Activity. We all closed our eyes and tried four different foods. She asked us to think about what they were and any flavours we could detect. We agreed that they were all chocolate and that we could taste: vanilla in the first one; bitterness, orange and perhaps nuts in the second one; even more bitterness and some sort of chewy fruit in the third one (lots of us didn’t like this one – see funny face pictures) and bitterness, smoothness and a hint of chilli in the last one.

Mrs Fitz then told us that for our topic this half term, we will be learning about an ancient civilisation to whom chocolate was very important: the ancient Maya.
