On Friday afternoon we were given some challenges related to structures.

The first one was to construct the tallest tower we could, using just one sheet of A4 paper. The only other thing we could use was scissors.

We all managed to get the paper to stand up on its end using different types of folds.

Some managed to get their tower quite a bit taller by cutting the paper and slotting it together.

The tallest was 48.5cm!

The next challenge was to construct the longest bridge. It had to be able to hold a cube made from 8 smaller cubes at its centre. It couldn’t be supported underneath the centre, but it could be supported at either end.

Again, we had lots of different ideas.

A great activity to finish off a really fun week.
