Last Wednesday, Oak class were very lucky to spend the day with Dr Irene Wise from Lancaster University. We looked at how wind is harnessed to create electricity and the importance of electricity in people’s lives. Through discussion we realised that having access to electricity enabled all aspects of life to happen eg to be able to complete homework by having a light to work by. We then experimented with how to best catch the wind, next we tested our ideas outside before then adjusting our designs to improve our wind turbines. We learnt lots about how best to catch the wind and make the best turbine. Here are some photos of our day with Dr Irene.
