On Tuesday when it was open afternoon, we had a very hands on Science lesson where we worked scientifically to explore pulleys. We used a range of pulleys, as well as knex and simple machine kits. We tried out different ways to combine the parts to create a pulley system to complete some simple tasks: raise a flag and hang out washing!
We learnt that pulleys change the direction of a force and can multiply the effort to get work done.
Such a buzz, such energy and interest – lovely photos, thank you for posting these and the description of the day on our blog!
