Day 2 – Tuesday

BBC Online Group

BBC website – https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/zncsscw/year-6-lessons/1

Find 19th May English for today’s lesson.

LI – To use colons and semi colons

 Extension Group

Like yesterday there is quite a lot to cover, hopefully your PE will have been done at 9am today with Joe Wicks or you’ve completed Mr Garvey’s activity already. Today we are going to explore how we can help combat climate change. You are going to use two sources and make notes on each one as you are reading. Don’t make the notes too detailed as you have a further task to do with your notes.

Source 1: NASA Climate Kids website: What can we do to help? https://climatekids.nasa.gov/how-to-help/

Source 2: National Geographic Kids: 13 ways to save the Earth from climate change:

After reading the two sources, choose your top ten ways to help combat climate change.

Create a poster to explain the ‘Top Ten Ways’ other children can help combat climate change. When designing your poster, consider these points.

  • Think about your layout
  • How will you make it stand out / eye-catching for your reader?
  • Think about your main title and subtitles
  • How could you make these encourage the reader to continue reading? –
  • Think about your vocabulary
  • Try to use precise vocabulary to make your explanations succinct.

Please email me a picture of your poster I would love to see them!

19th May Maths

LI – Decimals: To Multiply decimals by integers

Click on the link below watch the lesson introduction which gives you the teaching so that you are able to answer the questions on the activity sheet. Start at Summer Week 1 Lesson 2

LI – To identify angles in triangles

Stilling time

Please see Mrs O’Donnell’s post for today’s stilling time activity.

Keep going with Mr Garvey’s activities or Joe Wicks PE, or some similar exercise such as Fitness Marshall, other online exercises. The most important thing is that you get your blood pumping and get yourself out of breath!

Like yesterday I won’t be posting any answers as the answers are with the maths and the English extension is a poster so everyone’s work will be different. Please email me your work – we would like lots of work for our learning review on Friday.

That’s it for me for this week – I hope that you keep well and enjoy your half term break!

Have a good morning’s learning!
