Well what a wonderful day we have had on our trip to Nicky Nook and the Applestore Cafe.
We left school to travel to Nicky Nook. The coach driver took rather a ‘scenic’ routed which meant that we had to rethink our walking route. We ended up walking along the Millenium walk bridleway into Scorton. We then turned off and walked up to meet the original road for our starting point. The children were excellent and accepted the change in route really well. We stopped for drinks along the way in the shade as the weather was warm. When we arrived at the starting point of Nicky Nook we set off up the path. This is a steep path with lots of steep steps. The steps were very large for some of the children and they were quite tired! The path then opened out and when we stopped for a drink we turned and saw the wonderful view.
We arrived at the top a short while later and enjoyed spotting things in the distance. We could see right over Morecambe Bay to Barrow. We could see Heysham Power Staion and looking south down the coast we spotted Blackpool Tower too. There was even a ferry heading back into port at Heysham. Even though it was a bit hazy over the water we could just about spot the wind turbines out in the sea. We sat and enjoyed our lunch just as the cloud came over which was really handy. After lunch, we headed back down the steep steps taking care, to the bottom. We then took the short route round to the Applestore Cafe.
The Cafe were brilliant and the children were able to choose their own flavour of ice cream. ? They then brought us juice and looked after us really well.
The chidlren enjoyed an extended play on the park which we had to ourselves! I’m not sure how any of them had any energy left!!
All the children behaved beautifully and were a real credit to school. ?
I think there may be a few tired children this evening! ?
Here are some photo’s of our day.
