I love rainbows and thought that I would put one on today’s blog (it’s not a photo I took but I really like it)

Good morning Oak Class! I hope that you had a good weekend and had a rest!

We are going to do the live meets differently this week. We are going to meet up for registration, sharing of work (if you want to) and a check through the work that is being set. We will meet each morning at 9:00am – set your alarm!

Here is today’s instalment from Letters from the Lighthouse: https://youtu.be/QxQKgvFt8nw

Maths

This week we are learning how to multiply and divide fractions. Firstly today we will revise how to add and subtract fractions as it has been a while since we have worked with fractions. I have made two videos that I would like you to watch to remind you how to add and subtract fractions.

To begin with watch the first video I have made to remind you how to add fractions. Remember you can pause the video and watch it more than once if you need to.

Now have a go at answering these addition questions. Mild complete questions A-I, Spicy complete A-O, Hot complete the whole page: Espresso Adding Fractions

Next watch the video I have made on subtracting fractions. Remember you can pause the video and watch it more than once if you need to.

Explorers and Adventurers (Part One)

This week we find out what it takes to survive the wilderness and the brave people who have strived to explore unknown parts of the world.

When following links online, parents should monitor that children are remaining on that page only and are keeping safe online.

Your first task today is to explore how to survive in the wilderness by reading and watching these sources, making notes from each:

Your second task is using what you have read and watched, create a ‘How to Survive in the Wilderness’ guide for a young adventurer. You may wish to create your guide as a leaflet or alternatively, you could record your guide as a short documentary in the style of Bear Grylls. Please send me your completed work – I can’t wait to see it!

Science

We are continuing with looking at transporting nutrients and water around the body. Due to the large tasks set for this morning which you may not have finished yet all you have to do is watch the video of the power point here:

https://youtu.be/wser1j_Il3U

Then write down five things that you have learnt from the powerpoint.

Stilling time

For today’s stilling time I would like you to take this Assertive Quiz; Assertive Quiz

Answer the questions and then add up your scores and see what it says about your assertiveness.  It is really important that you feel able to stick up for yourself and be able to say ‘No’ especially if you feel you are being mistreated or if someone else is trying to make you do something you don’t want to.

If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to email me either on r.poole@ellel-st-johns.lancs.sch.uk or rpoole@ellelstjohns.school as I will be checking both accounts.

Enjoy your learning!

Love

Mrs Poole
