Topic
CPSHE: LI – to recognise the actions of others and consider how these can influence our lives.
Click the link below and have a look at the news poster:
Now have a think about this key question: How can one person make a big difference?
Look at the poster image: Do you know who the person is in the poster? It is Captain Tom Moore, a 99-year-old war veteran from Bedfordshire who recently raised over £28 million for the NHS by completed 100 laps of his garden for his 100th birthday. Captain Tom began raising funds to thank NHS staff who helped him with treatment for cancer and a broken hip. He originally aimed to raise just £1000 but quickly passed his target!
Click the following link and read through the information found in the resource, all about Captain Tom Moore’s incredible achievement:
Captain Tom Moore Resource – April 2020
It’s really important for us to remember that sometimes, it’s not the biggest actions that can have the biggest impact and that all of the things that we do affect the world around us! Captain Tom didn’t even leave his garden but managed to raise a lot of money and raise the spirits of the nation! Can we think of anything we can do at the moment to help others?
Watch the useful video (found in the link below) which shows Captain Tom receiving a Pride of Britain Award:
Mother Teresa, a Catholic nun who dedicated her life to helping others said, “If you cannot feed a hundred people, feed one.” Talk with someone at home about what you think she meant by this? Do you agree?
Reflection:
However small we think our actions are, we can all contribute to help make a positive difference to the world around us. At some point, to someone or something, our actions matter!
Challenge: In your work book, write a letter or thank you card and send it to someone who has made a difference in your local community; this could be for a teacher, family member or neighbour.
Have a think about a way you could make a difference to those around you and try to put it into action. Good luck!
Thanks Mrs Fitz for putting the work on. I can’t see the answers for yesterday’s work on here. That might just be me but I wanted to check. Missing you all so much. Well done to all the teachers as my auntie is one and she has told us how much work there is to do so well done.
Love Iona xx
Morning Iona. That was a very early post! You must be a morning person 🙂
Thank you for your lovely comment. We are all working very hard and it’s really nice to hear that you appreciate it so thank you so much! Well done to you too for engaging with the work and working so hard!
Was it the maths answers you were after? On the White Rose website the answers are there for you to look at once you’ve done the work so I won’t be posting them separatley this week. Perhaps Mrs Poole did the same.
Enjoy today’s work!
Mrs Fitz xxx
I have the maths answers I was just wondering if there were English ones too? Probably not because it was the diary entries but I thought there could have been things that should’ve been included or something like that. I didn’t think there would be but I thought I’d ask. The time is wrong on my comment it was after 7:00am that I posted it. I’m defiantly a morning person but not that early! Missing everyone so much. Can’t wait to see you all again. You guys are like my second family and my brothers and sisters becaise I have no siblings.
Love Iona xx
The links aren’t working on my iPad for some reason. It says they are unable to open. I read the stories though.
Iona xx
Oh dear – I’m not sure why! Are you able to do the work though?
We are all one big Ellel family!!! xx
Yes I have done it. The maths link was working but the English Ines except for the website one were all not working.
Love Iona xx
I agree with Mother Teresa because if one person fed or gave or did something kind like that for one other person and then that person doesn’t the same, the same amount of people, if not more, are being blessed without it being down to one person. Like in that ‘Give a little love’ video that we sometimes watch at school where someone sees something kind and then they do the same and it carries on. There are so many wonderful people out there helping everyone in so many different ways at the moment. Well done everyone!
Iona xx
Well said Iona! x
