English

Day 3 – Thursday

BBC website – https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/zncsscw/year-6-lessons/1

Find English for today’s lesson 4th June

LI – to use parenthesis.

Extension Theme: This week focuses on calculating your own carbon footprint, exploring how climate change affects the Arctic and how this is impacting polar bears.

When following links online, parents should monitor that children are remaining on that page only and are keeping safe online.

LI – to write a narrative voice-over for a film clip.

Task 1. Watch Climate Change: the Polar Bear’s Story https://www.youtube.co m/watch?v=_zI4MG9qrH c

Further information about the impact of climate change on polar bears can be found here: https://www.nationalge ographic.com/news/201 8/02/polar-bears-starve- melting-sea-ice-global- warming-study-beaufort- sea-environment/

(Note: this webpage contains links to latest news features, plus some linked pages to the polar bear theme which are sensitive).

Task 2. Imagine you have been asked to create a narrative (or voice-over) for the first clip watched today. Your voice-over would need to describe polar bears and explain how climate change is impacting them. You can use all you have read and watched over the past few days about polar bears to help you write your script (or voice over). You may choose to write this as a story which could accompany the cartoon images or a non- fiction voice over (like David Attenborough) explaining the problems.

Task 3. Once you have written the script, have a go at reading it over the clip – making sure it fits in the time and you get all your information across to your viewer and listener.

Find the Geography lesson for Tuesday 2nd June:

LI – to learn about fossil fuels and renewable energy.

Remember to spend a bit of time each day or every couple of days on Mathletics and Spelling Shed to keep up with spelling and mental maths skills.

Like yesterday, I won’t post an answers blog as the answers are with the maths and everyone’s English work will be different. Please continue to email your work – we would like lots of work for our learning review tomorrow. ‘See’ you then! Love Mrs Fitz x
