The answers to the questions below are on the second sheet when you scroll down.
ENGLISH
SPELLING TEST
Ask a grown-up to test you on this week’s spellings. Remember to practise any you didn’t get right, you can have a quick practise on Spelling Shed.
L.I. To identify features of a text (persuasive).
Today’s lesson builds on what we have covered so far this week.
It also uses modal verbs which we have looked at in class, as well as imperative verbs.
Remember to watch the whole video and have a go at the activity.
Again, the revision of -ably spellings at the end is very useful.
SCIENCE
Last week we investigated which substances would dissolve in water.
We found out that:
Substances that dissolve in water are called soluble substances. When you mix sugar with water, the sugar dissolves to make a transparent solution. Salt is soluble in water too.
Substances that do not dissolve in water are called insoluble substances. When you mix sand or flour with water, they do not dissolve.
Click below for today’s investigation:
Now use your solutions to complete the investigations below:
- Pour the sugar solution into a shallow dish and place it on a sunny windowsill. Check it each day and observe what happens.
2. Follow the instructions in the video below using your ready- made salt solution:
Take a photograph everyday of your solutions to record what happens.
V.E. Day – Activity 3
Today’s V.E. Day activity is wartime recipes. You can have a go at making something today or later in the week. If you’re planning on having a tea party at home on Friday to celebrate, you could plan what you are going to make for that. Hopefully you’ll find something you can have a go at making – photos please!
