SCIENCE

We had a surprise visitor to our garden  – a Sparrowhawk!

I’ve never seen one of these birds before and I wouldn’t have seen it if I hadn’t been working from home, so this made me think. . .What birds could you spot?

This would be a good way to finish our Science topic on Living Things.

L.I. -To classify living things according to their key features.

I have attached a link to the RSPB website -the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

Although it mentions using binoculars they aren’t necessary – you can still spot birds without them. Also, you don’t need a garden. You can just look through a window -as long as you are keeping still so you don’t startle the birds!

Use the following sheet to help you identify them and then fill in the other sheet. If you don’t have a printer then you can write the questions into your book and then answer them – also, make a list of the birds you spot. I would love to see some photographs too if you are able to take some.

I can’t wait to find out what you spot!
