Hi everyone, I hope you are all OK and have had a lovely weekend. This is the last week of work before the half term. I cannot believe we have been home learning for a whole half term now. You have all done so well and have worked really hard and I couldn’t be any prouder of you all!

Reading Books

There will be new reading books out today at school available to collect between 9am and 3.30pm. Please collect new 3 books and put the old books in the box for quarantine. If you would like to try your child on the next colour band this week please do. Here are the new bands:

If you were on red move to yellow.

If you were on yellow move to blue.

If you were on blue move to green.

If you were on green move to orange.

If you were on orange move to turquoise.

If you were on turquoise move to purple.

You don’t have to move them up, just if you feel they are ready.

GoogleMeet

This week’s meet is going to be on Friday 12th February at 11am.

Here is this week’s Learning.

ENGLISH

This week we are looking at the story Mr Wolf’s Pancakes. Watch and listen to the story here (as you watch take note of the characters Mr Wolf see’s on his journey):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXQDiqHp-xM Mr Wolf

Can you create a story map to show what happens in the story.

  • What characters did he see in the journey?
  • What order did he meet the characters?

Have a look at this for inspiration:

EXTENSION: Add labels your story map if you would like to extend the work further.

MATHS

This week we are looking at doubling and halving.

https://youtu.be/34BKd15eT0k Watch this video to learn more.

The voice over is missing off the first slide. It should say that we ar looking at doubles. A double is where you add the same number together for example 2 + 2 = 4 so double 2 = 4.

Either create number card 1-10 and collect 20 objects. Pick a number card and count out the objects needed for that number. Then double the number by adding the same amount. How many do you have now? Repeat with other number cards. As a challenge you could record your calculations e.g. 4 + 4 = 8.

STILLING TIME

Go for a walk for  today’s activity. It doesn’t have to be a long walk unless you want it to be. On your way, use your senses.

What can you see?

What can you hear?

What can you smell?

What can you touch?
