Hi Beech Class. I hope you all had a lovely half term and got a good chance to relax and recharge your batteries.
As it is a new half term, we are starting a new topic, Terrific Transport. Here is the new topic grid:
GOOGLE MEET
This week our meet will be on Wednesday at 11am.
We will recap our number work this week so can you prepare a bingo board 3 x 2 with numbers 10 – 20 on it?
I look forward to seeing you there!
READING BOOKS
Reading books will be available from outside school all day today if you want to collect new ones. Please take 3 of the colour you have been reading.
Here is the work for today:
ENGLISH
This week our English links to Buzz Lightyear and Space.
Say together the phrase: to infinity and beyond! Do you know who says this? Ask your child if they know anything about the character Buzz Lightyear.
Watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VSYmGSJtCA
Talk about what Buzz Lightyear looks like and who his friends are. Is he a good character or a bad character?
With an adult, read some fun facts about Buzz Lightyear here: https://kids.kiddle.co/Buzz_Lightyear
and
https://www.celebrationspress.com/2017/09/11/ten-things-you-may-not-know-about-buzz-lightyear/
Play Ask the Expert! where siblings or other adults ask your child about Buzz Lightyear. Can they talk
like an expert, saying everything they know about him?
Write a Buzz Lightyear fact file for someone to read. It could include answers to these prompts:
What does he look like?
Where did he get his name from?
How does he act?
Who are his friends?
Who is his enemy?
You can just select one Question to answer if you think that is best for your child?
Use this template if you would like:
Check for a capital letter at the start of a sentence/character name and a full stop at the end of each
sentence. Encourage your child to use their phonics to help them.
MATHS
This week in maths, we are looking at length.
Have a look at this:
Presentation – Comparing Lengths and Heights day 1
Now find an object in your house like a pencil or a book. Go on a length hunt, can you find objects that are longer than your object? Can you find objects that are shorter than your object?
Can you find a different object to your pencil to measure objects against?
CHALLENGE – have a go at this:
We can use our body parts to measure. What parts of our body do you think you could use?
Day 1 measure-and-record-length
