Hi everyone. I hope you have all had a great weekend. Thank to all of you for the fantastic work you sent last week. I was really impressed with how you all have got on so far! Keep it up!

I am planning on doing a meeting on Wednesday at 11am. I will send more information tomorrow and a link for the meet will be sent via Parent App. It will be a catch up and sharing what we got for Christmas. Maybe your child could have something they got to show. We will aim to get round everyone so please just have one thing to show.

BBC are putting on some lessons for children on CBBC channel. Here is the schedule if you would like to watch:

Here is the learning for today …

English

This week in English we are going to create an information text on Penguins.

Watch this:

https://youtu.be/QAEO8ML54tQ English

Can you generate some questions that will be headings for your information text on Penguins? When we are writing our text in neat, we will split it into 2 to write over 2 days.

Think about this when you are generating your questions. Chose to do 2,3 or 4 questions depending on what you think is best for your child.

Use this to help you to select what penguin you would like to research and write about …

Remember to keep your questions for tomorrow.

Maths

Today in maths we are looking at one more or one less. Have a look at this:

Then try one of these activities using the 100 square to help:

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/paint-the-squares

  • draw different number cards to 20, 50 or 100   (what ever is best for your child)                      e.g. 23  45  12  18  25  42                                                                                                                              Then in books write what is one more and less than that number.
  • Or have a go at one of these:

Stilling time

Do you have any worries?

Share them with your adult.

Maybe you could write them down and  put them in a box or jar to help to deal with them.

Go back whenever you think about it and look through your worries again. Chances are, there will be several slip of paper that have come and passed, and you are still OK, still healthy, and your worries never amounted to anything.

So then you can rip them up and throw them away!

Science

Watch this video for more information on materials:

Have a look around your house. Can you find any things that are made from the following materials?

Materials

You don’t have to record if you don’t want to. You can discuss you ideas with an adult instead.

Please don’t feel you need to print everything, recording answers and work in books is great! If you don’t have a printer, use the resources on the blog and just write answers in your work books.

Please email over any work done, h.quinn@ellel-st-johns.lancs.sch.uk, I love to see how you are getting on! Mrs Quinn xx
