Hi Beech Class. I cannot believe we are at the end of another week! Time seems to be really flying at the minute. Thank you to all of the parents who have sent work in this week, I really appreciate you taking the time to do that so I can see how the children are getting on. Here is the learning for today…

English

Today we are finishing our jungle animal theme by writing some information about one of these animals:

day 5 english pic

Select your favourite then can you find out:

What they eat?

Where do they live?

How do they survive?

Then record it on your chosen animal sheet:

Select how many sentences you think is best for your child to complete.

This is an alternative idea if you think that would be best:

Remember to check for capital letters at the start of sentences, full stops at the end of sentences and finger spaces in between words. Children could always use a different colour pen to go back and correct this.

Maths

Today we are looking at British money notes. This is something we had not yet covered in class.

Then have a go at this activity:

Phonics

Today we are going to recap phase 5 tricky words. These words are always good to recap as they come up in reading and writing activities all the time.

First use the words here:

Write the words on small pieces of paper and hide them around the house or garden for your child to find. Can they read them?

Then select 2 or 3 of the words and write them in a sentence. Can your child remember how to spell them?

Extra Activities – if you would like

To finish the week we are going to look at grouping animals. Have a look at this:

Then complete this:

Sorting Animals into Sets

Or if you can print, in your books you could make lists or draw pictures that fit into the different categories. Or you could use toy animals you may have at home and sort them into their correct group.

Have a great weekend, Mrs Quinn xx
