Hi everyone. I cannot believe we are at the end of another half term already. Well done to everyone for all their hard work this half term. All the work you have been producing has been amazing and I have loved seeing it all. You have all made me a really happy and proud teacher!

Well done and thank you to all the parents. You have been amazing with everything you have been doing with your children enabling them to continue to learn at home. I have felt so much support from all of you, so thank you so much. It means an awful lot to me as a teacher!

I hope you have a lovely half term, the weather looks good so far so fingers crossed it stays that way. There is no work set over half term, but if you are looking for something to do you could use the home learning grid here to see if there is anything you would like to do:

Or you could complete some of the extra activities that have been put on the blogs that you may not have had a chance to do. This is only extra and please don’t feel you have to, it’s just there for those who may want to do something.

Our next topic after half term is School Safari, looking all about animals. I love this topic and hope there will be something there for everyone.

I will hopefully see lots of you on our 11am Zoom.

Mrs Quinn xx

English

Today, we are going to finish our reports and do a normal phonics lesson which is slightly different to our normal Friday where we have a bigger phonics focus.

Use this information to help to write up the second half of the non – chronological report.

Day 2 of writing our report – day 5 info

Use this format to complete the report (the same as yesterday):

If you can’t print write it up in books.

Maths

For today’s maths, you are going at collect your own data and make a tally and bar chart to show the data you have collected.

You could pick a subject like favourite animal, pet, biscuit, fruit, ice cream flavour or anything you think is interesting and ask your friends and family.

Or you could pick a book with animals in and count up how many different animals you see in the book. Maybe pick 5 to count.

Or you could use this picture of animals to count:

Or if you have another way to collect data to put in the tally and bar chart, I am happy for you to do that.

Then use this sheet to create a tally and bar chart to show the data you have created.

Complete the questions as a challenge if you think that is appropriate for your child.

Extra Activities – if you would like

Today’s sea creature is the crab.

Watch one of these videos about crabs:

There is this short video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oaEF7Kq_64

or There is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNHqQJL2iIs from the Octonauts (20 mins so be warned).

You could get crafty:

Lots of crabs live in the UK. Look at this Country File guide to see which ones do:

https://www.countryfile.com/wildlife/how-to-identify/guide-to-britains-crab-species/

Maybe you could pick one and find out 3 facts about that specific crab?

You can find crabs in rock pools across the UK and here is where you can find some locally: https://www.lancswt.org.uk/rockpools

Maybe you could locate half moon bay on a map and see where it is in relation to where you live?
