Today, as part of the wonderful work we are doing based on the text ‘Here We Are’ by Oliver Jeffers, we worked really hard to produce some beautiful artwork.
First, we discussed and explored the double-page ocean scene and then chose our favourite creature or item from the scene.
Next, we used very fine paint brushes and acrylic paints to carefully recreate our chosen creature on a slice of tree trunk.
Finally, our creations were varnished and then displayed in the classroom and we think they look fantastic!
Soon, we are going to put a magnetic strip on the back of them and take then home as gifts for our families. We hope they like them!
What an artistic year start! Very lovely to see pictures of all the class so engaged in painting. How did they manage to come home so clean, mystery 😉
I’m glad you liked seeing the pictures. The children loved the activity and the results are beautiful! I think we stayed clean because it was such small, precise work. Or maybe it was just luck! 🙂
