This week we will be looking at our new topic of persuasive writing.

Think about these questions.

What does it mean to be persuasive?

How can somebody be persuasive?

Why might somebody be persuasive?

Who might be persuasive?

Your task today is to write a persuasive piece of writing in order to persuade me to give you some dojos. Think about how you may persuade me in to giving you some precious dojos. I will look forward to seeing your persuasive pieces of writing.

Science

In science we will be starting our new topic all about light.

•Can you name some things that give out light?
•How does light help us to see?
•What is dark?
•How do mirrors work?
•What is reflection?
•How are shadows made?

This unit of work is all about light.

You will find the answers to all these questions, and more!

What do you already know?

Create a mind map to show what you already know about light.

Can you think of any questions you would like to find out about light? Make sure to email me them so that we can learn about everything you would like to know.

Activity Sheet Light Mind Map

What is dark?

Dark is the absence of light.

If there is no light from a light source, it will be dark.

Think about times when it is dark, or places where it is dark. Which sources of light are absent, or switched off?

Your task today is to look around your house and see if you can spot some different light sources. You may want to take pictures of them and send them in.

Once you have completed your activities be sure to email me pictures of your work so that I can see how you’ve done, my email is j.turton@ellel-st-johns.lancs.sch.uk.

I hope you all have a great day completing these tasks and hopefully we can all be together again soon. Until then, keep smiling.
