May the 4th be with you to all you Star Wars fans out there. Welcome back to Hazel class home learning and to a new week. I hope you all have had a great weekend and are ready for some more learning tasks.
In maths this week we will be looking at 2D shapes and angles.
Today in maths I would like you to draw and name all the 2D shapes you can remember. Then take a look at the sheet below and see if you missed any or if you drew any that were not on the sheet.
Now, think about the properties of these shapes.
How do we describe 2D shapes?
When we talk about 2D shapes, we talk about sides and angles.
The angles of a 2D shape are also sometimes referred to as ‘vertices’ (singular: vertex).
I would like you to write down the properties of the shapes you have drawn.
In English this week, it is all about the character, Flat Stanley. He is a boy who becomes flat after a bulletin board falls on him in the night!
Explore the story by reading and viewing the online versions together, and complete some short writing opportunities in response to the text each day.
When following links online, parents should monitor that children are remaining on that page only and are keeping safe online.
Read together and/or listen on YouTube Chapter One –
The Big Bulletin Board
Both links below.
Flat Stanley – version on YouTube (from start to 2:30 mins)
Discuss the story so far together and consider these questions:
What would it be like to be flat?
What would you do?
How would you feel?
Every day this week, I will be setting you a special task linked to VE Day, which is this Friday.
Here is some information on why we are thinking about VE Day this week.
Today, I would like you to design your own celebratory bunting. Here is a template:Bunting Template. Here are some bunting instructions: Bunting instructions. Make sure you send a photo to me, via my school email address so we can share our beautiful bunting.
Stilling Time today is another Hazel Class classic, enjoy.
