Good morning Oak Class. You’ve reached Friday of the first week at home. Hope you’re all adjusting. Remember there won’t be any work set for the weekends; just have fun and relax.
PE – Begin your day with the Joe Wicks workout. Mr Garvey and myself are aching all over! Hope you’ve been giving it your all too.
English
So far this week you have watched and researched TV News Reports and planned and written your own report about the Tempest. Now for the fun part; I know how much you love drama work…
Present your report as though you are the reporter live at the scene. Why not dress up in a smart suit? You could rope in family members as the eye-witnesses and create sound effects for the wind. The sky is the limit! Film your report and if possible, share it! Have fun!!!
Maths
Following this week’s focus on statistics, I want you all to complete the Statistics Review from Target Your Maths. Open the Word Document using the following link:
If you want some extra work after this, do some of the statistics work on Mathletics.
Stilling Time
The weather is still absolutely beautiful so take the opportunity to get out in the garden again to do the following Standing Sailors activity:
Take of your shoes and socks. Standing and tuning in to how your body feels standing, here and now. Noticing any sensations in the soles of your feet and then tuning in to the rhythm of your breath as it moves in and out. Keeping both feet on the ground, as the breath moves in, letting the body move onto the right foot. As it breathes out, swaying so that the body weight is now on the left foot. Swaying with each in and out breath.
RE – Who was Jesus? Who is Jesus? The following task does not need to be done in one go (we wouldn’t get all this done in one RE lesson at school).
I want you to use the following Bible passages to help you answer the question – Who was Jesus? Record your ideas – a list of names for Jesus – in your workbook.
Isaiah 9:6-7King James Version (KJV)
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Philippians 2:6-11 (NIV)
6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Hopefully you will have created a list of names for Jesus such as: Prince of Peace, servant king etc.
Next, add to your list with any other names for Jesus that you, or members of your family, can think of. Consider what the different people who met him might have called him, e.g. the disciples – teacher, friend; someone healed by him – healer. Are all the names positive? Some people may well have called him things like trouble-maker, rebel, etc.
By now, you should have a significant list of names for Jesus. Task – Using these names, write a poem that answers the question, ‘Who was Jesus?’
Well done for all your hard work this week – I’m proud of you all. Have a lovely weekend! Keep smiling!

Nice R.E Lottie.
Might have to Magpie some of your ideas!
Where do I post the English/drama homework?
Hi Joe!
It’s not very straight forward and you know me – not the most technical!! 🙂
First question is are your parents happy for the video of you to be on the class blog? If so, it needs to be uploaded to YouTube so I can copy the link into the blog. Second question is do you have a YouTube channel? If so, upload it onto there and let me know the link so I can put it on the blog. If not, are your parents happy to help you set a channel up so you can do this? Other than that, I’m not sure how we can share the video so speak to mum and dad and see what they say. Remember, don’t do anything without checking with them first.
Have a lovely weekend! Mrs Fitz xx
To the disciples Jesus is:
A friend you know you can rely on,
A man you can’t help but love,
A representation to always care.
To the people he met:
A doctor of sin,
A Shepherd of men,
A lover to the world.
To me Jesus is,
A rock under feet,
A dad I always wanted,
A king of my life,
A path to lead the way,
A friend that will always be their,
A street lamp that will always shine through.
???
This is wonderful Arianna!! x
Just realised that it makes me Sound like I have no dad ?????????????
I’m sure your dad knows what you mean 😉
