Good morning everybody!
The children from Beech Class have just completed their Forest School sessions for the year and what a lovely, enthusiastic bunch they were! Cold aside the weather has been particularly kind to us which is unusual for Forest School. (long running joke that it only rains on Tuesday!).
Despite the bitterly cold weather, the children have been clothed suitably (well done parents) and have enjoyed the freedom of the outdoor environment, the opportunity to run, climb and play without too much need for adult intervention.
The group loved team challenges and showed a real togetherness and of course, competitive spirit. They also loved the warm up games too.
We had the opportunity to use new equipment for the first time, including this amazing cooking pan. Sausages and the following week bacon. No doubt this will be used a lot over the coming year groups.
when the rain eventually returned, so did the Mud slide!! (Washing machines beware!). The children love it though, developing confidence to slide down. Some even are brave enough to run down. (Bonkers)
We also started to look at tools and materials that we can use in the outdoor enviroment to help us create things. The bark on the willow trees are perfect for Bow and Arrows. We learned about knife safety and will probably have a try at using the knives in Year 2. We also found ways to create dens with tarpaulin which provided lots of shelter on the rainy days.
Thankyou for all your support over the term. It really is a priveledge to see the children play and learn and grow in confidence as they explore the beautiful outdoor environment that Ellel has to offer. Hope you all have a Happy Christmas and a restful break and i’ll see the next class (Year 5) in the new year.
