Day 2
English
Recap the story. What happened in the beginning, middle and end?
Can you remember what a story character is?
What characters are in the story?
Today you are going to write thought bubbles for the gingerbread man and the fox. What do you think they would be thinking?
For example, the cat could be thinking I want to catch that Gingerbread man.
Remember
Use your phonics.
T-L-4924-Phase-3-and-5-Sound-Mat_ver_1
Adults try to let the children sound out the words themselves like last week.
Maths – place value
Recap place value from yesterday.
Make sure the children remember in 43 for example there are 4 tens not 40 tens and 3 ones.
Ask: If you had 65 how many tens would you need and how many ones would you need?
In 39 which digit shows the tens and which digit shows the ones.
Play this game to practice making the number using tens and ones. (we have done this in class)

Today’s activity is for children to draw tens and ones for a given number. Adults, write down a 2 digit number and children have to draw how many sticks they need for the tens and circles for the ones just like this …
Record in your books.
You could do it the other way around to recap yesterday’s learning. Adults draw sticks and circles and children can write the number.
Maths problem of the day
Have a go at this problem if you would like. Ask the children how do you know that? How did you work out that answer?
Get creative at home of how you can show the other numbers.
Phonics
Please look at this pdf for today’s phonics revision.

Extra activities (optional)
Continue to use the castles, spring and Easter home learning grid we sent home for activities to do or chose another gingerbread man activity that was shared yesterday.
Here is a gingerbread man scavenger hunt for you to complete at home. How many can you find at home …
